The Guest List

I remember driving into the church for the funeral.  We wanted to get there a bit early to just collect ourselves and prepare for the service.  We had a CD of Hillsong Instrumental which is all the songs we love from church but played in a quiet instrumental and reflective tone, and we wanted to get the CD there to be playing for when people started arriving.  We got there 15 minutes early and the car park was full.  Bruce Evans was waiting for us at the entrance to the church to guide our car in to the front of the church.  What a great guy!  I just remember seeing all these people crowded around the front of the church and the place was packed, and I remember just thinking "Wow! All these people have taken time off work and out of their schedules to be with us today.  How amazing is that?"

Every one wrote their names in a little book that we treasure now because we really didn't get a chance to see everyone and say "Thanks for coming" as we didn't leave enough time between the church service and the grave side service.  So if we didn't get to see you and speak to you, please know that we really appreciated you guys coming and sharing a really special time with us.  It was the last time we were all together as a family, and it was nice to share that time with you!
